IMPORTANT: Codewords must be applied in the sequence in which they are obtained.

Licensing an iCOD Processor

An inactive processor must be licensed prior to activation. The iCOD licensing procedure is as follows:

  1. Purchase the processor enablement product from HP (contact your HP sales representative to accomplish this) — HP sends you a letter containing information on how to obtain a RTU codeword for processor activation

  2. Acquire a right-to-use (RTU) codeword from the iCOD web portal (located at http://www.hp.com/go/icod/portal)

  3. Apply the RTU codeword using the icod_modify command with the -C option

For example, if you have an iCOD processor that you desire to license, and you have already obtained a RTU codeword, you can apply the RTU codeword with the icod_modify command with the -C option. Note that the -C option is in uppercase.

Here is an example session of applying a processor RTU codeword using icod_modify -C:

Example 4-2 Applying a RTU Codeword

/usr/sbin/icod_modify -C YvMd016.iWHdtir.Qx65YxY.wLdb7qq

The following valid codeword has been applied to the complex:

    Right-to-Use Codeword
    1 CPUs

Execute the icod_stat(1M) command to see the results of the application of this codeword.

NOTE: Application of Right-to-Use codewords does not result in          the activation of components. Components must be          activated separately.
NOTE: The newly licensed processor increments the count of Licensed processors that can be activated in the output of the icod_stat command .
