You may want to test your software application for proper
operation and improved performance by activating an additional processor.
The use of temporary capacity (TiCOD) is required for activation
of an iCOD processor for testing purposes.
The following testing guidelines are meant to be an aid to
your test plan. You may need to get consulting help to develop a
detailed test plan.
Test your applications
for proper functionality and performance with all of the iCOD processors
inactive. Be sure to check measurement tools that monitor processor
usage.
Acquire TiCOD for the amount
of processor test activation necessary (see “HP’s
Test Activation Policy for iCOD Systems”).
Use TiCOD for activation
of an iCOD processor while your applications are running (see Chapter 5 “Temporary
Capacity for iCOD Processors” for information on
using TiCOD to activate processors with the icod_modify -t -a command/options).
Confirm that measurement
tools, which monitor processor usage, account for the newly activated
processor.
Verify that applications
are benefiting from the performance of the extra processors (as
per your expectations for your applications). Note that some applications
may need to be restarted or reconfigured to take advantage of the
newly activated processors.
When you are finished with
your testing, use icod_modify to deactivate the TiCOD processors.
