Error for Unlicensed TiCOD Activation

You cannot activate an iCOD processor with TiCOD, using the icod_modify -t -a <number> command/options, unless there is a sufficient balance of TiCOD on the iCOD system. To increase the TiCOD balance, see “Licensing TiCOD” for details.

Here is an example of the error message for attempting to activate an iCOD processor without proper TiCOD licensing:

Example 5-5 Error Message for Attempt to Activate an iCOD Processor Without TiCOD Licensing

/usr/sbin/icod_modify -t -a 1

ERROR: Operation not approved, because it would result in the activation of
at least one iCOD CPU. iCOD CPUs are required to be inactive until
an enablement license has been purchased and an associated RTU
(Right-to-Use) codeword has been applied to the system. Codewords
for licensed CPUs are available at the iCOD portal          (http://www.hp.com/go/icod/portal).

TiCOD Balance Needing Action

If the TiCOD balance reaches 30 minutes or less, the icod_stat command’s output displays “less than 30 minutes” in the Exception status field (at the beginning of the icod_stat output). When this TiCOD state occurs, you need to take corrective action immediately and do one of the following:

  • Deactivate iCOD processors that are utilizing TiCOD

  • Apply additional TiCOD codewords

  • Permanently license iCOD processors

TiCOD Negative Balance

An iCOD complex is out of compliance with the iCOD contract if a negative balance of TiCOD occurs.

The iCOD software sends an iCOD exception report (via e-mail) if TiCOD has a negative balance. Exception information is also written to the syslog file. See “Handling Compliance Exceptions” for details of the exception report for a negative TiCOD balance.
