Ximian GNOME 1.4 for HP-UX comprises the following four products.
It is not necessary to install all four products. Most users only need to install the Ximian GNOME desktop and the GTK+ libraries, which are packaged together in a single depot file. The GTK+ libraries are also provided in their own depot, in case you want to make them available separately to your users (several applications other than GNOME also rely on the GTK+ libraries). If you want to be able to develop your own GNOME applications, you should also install the Development Kit. You only need to install the GNOME source code if you want to recompile Ximian GNOME for HP-UX, or examine its internal operation. This release of Ximian GNOME 1.4 for HP-UX is provided for HP-UX release 11.0, 11i, and 11i V1.6. It should run on any system supported by those operating system releases. This product has been tested on recent model workstations with various graphics devices. The minimum suggested workstation configuration is shown in the table below. This release of Ximian GNOME for HP-UX includes several of the most popular GNOME applications. These open-source programs are included in the GNOME desktop product, bringing a new generation of personal productivity tools to the HP-UX environment. |
