Downloading Ignite-UX

From a single server running HP-UX 11i and this version of Ignite-UX, you can install 11i v1 (B.11.11), 11i v2 (B.11.23), or 11i v3 (B.11.31) onto your client systems.

Each release of Ignite-UX contains the fixes and enhancements from previous Ignite-UX releases. This ensures you have the latest software in one cohesive download.

HP recommends you install the complete Ignite-UX product (IGNITE) unless you want to block the use of a specific version of HP-UX, increase the download speed, or conserve disk space on the server.


To install HP-UX versions:

11i v1 (B.11.11) only

11i v2 (B.11.23) only

11i v3 (B.11.31) only

All supported HP-UX versions

Installation Tips

You can use the swinstall command to install Ignite-UX from a depot. For example, to install the C.7.8.201 complete product bundle that installs all supported versions of HP-UX from a depot stored in /var/tmp, you can use the following command:

swinstall -s /var/tmp/Ignite-UX_ALL_C.7.8.201.depot IGNITE

Required pax Patches

When Ignite-UX creates a system archive with make_sys_image or make_[tape|net]_recovery, the pax utility is used. You should install the latest patch for pax on the system where you will be creating your archive.

To obtain the appropriate patch from the IT Resource Center:

  1. Go to the IT Resource Center.
  2. Complete the brief registration if you have not previously registered with the ITRC.
  3. Select Patch database under the Downloads header.
  4. Select HP-UX under the find individual patches header.
  5. Follow the search instructions to obtain the pax patch for your system.
