NOTE: The HP 9000 EISA 100VG-AnyLAN Quick Installation guide lists the steps required to install your 100VG-AnyLAN hardware and software. The quick installation guide refers you to complete descriptions of the software installation steps in this manual. Use the quick installation guide as your primary reference to installation and configuration procedures.

This chapter describes the procedures to load 100VG-AnyLAN software and hardware onto your system. It contains the following sections:

  • Step 1: Check the 100VG-AnyLAN Installation Prerequisites.

  • Step 2: Load the 100VG-AnyLAN Software.

  • Step 3: Set the EISA Card Configuration.

  • Step 4: Access the Workstation Card Bay.

  • Step 5: Install the 100VG-AnyLAN Card.

  • Step 6: Attach the Workstation to the Network.

  • Step 7: Configure the 100VG-AnyLAN Link.

  • Step 8: Verify the Installation.

NOTE: Prior to installing 100VG-AnyLAN, HP recommends that you create a network map or update the existing map of your 100VG-AnyLAN network. Refer to appendix B for an example 100VG-AnyLAN network map.

Overview of 9.X to 10.01 Upgrade Procedures

If you intend to upgrade from HP-UX 9.X to 10.01, please note the following prerequisites before beginning the installation/upgrade process.

  • For information about upgrading the OS, refer to the manual, Upgrading from HP-UX 9.X to 10.0 Version B.10.01 (A2850-90601).

  • Before loading the 100VG-AnyLAN product in "Step 2: Loading 100VG-AnyLAN Software," update the PATH as described in Step 1, Substep 1.

  • Do not move or reposition any network cards before or during the upgrade process.

  • No reconfiguration of the product is necessary after the upgrade.

  • To verify that the upgrade is successful, check your network interface (lan0, lan1, etc) and IP address mappings using SAM or lanscan(1M).
