Follow the steps below to download the card configuration file to the EEPROM memory chip. (The card will be installed in Step 4 in the next section.)

  1. Run the eisa_config utility in interactive mode using the command:

    /etc/eisa_config

The screen display shows a slot number, configuration (CFG) file, and contents description for each EISA card.

  2. Verify that eisa_config displays either !HWPC000 or !HWPC010 at slot 0 for the EISA system board.

NOTE: If you inserted the hardware card into the EISA interface prior to installing the 100VG-AnyLAN software using the swinstall utility, eisa_config may automatically recognize the card. If so, you should proceed to Step 4 below.
  3. Add the 10/100VG card configuration file to the EEPROM memory chip on the EISA interface using the add command, followed by the number of an empty slot for the card, after the EISA prompt. HP recommends that you use the lowest empty slot. In the example below, slot 1 is the lowest slot available for the EISA 100VG-AnyLAN interface:

    add !HWP1990 1

Remember to use this slot when you physically install the card in "Step 5: Install the 10/100VG Card."

  4. Execute the show board command followed by the slot number of the card to display the board's basic attributes. In the example below, 1 indicates the slot number of the EISA 100VG-AnyLAN interface.

    show board 1
NOTE: There are no switches or jumpers on the 100VG-AnyLAN card.
  5. To save the new card configuration, execute the command:

    save
  6. To leave the eisa_config utility, execute the command:

    quit

If you have not encountered any error before issuing the quit command, ignore all messages displayed by eisa_config upon exiting.

  7. Go to the next section, "Step 4: Access the Workstation Card Bay."
