In addition to pausing a service, you can pause your workstation's connections to shared directories and printer queues. When you pause connections, your workstation no longer recognizes the devicenames assigned to the connections. If you assigned a local devicename to a network connection (for example, LPT1), pausing the connection lets you use the devicename for a local resource. You use the drdr option with the net pause and net continue commands to pause and continue connections to shared directories.
