If you are using MS-DOS version 5.0 and want to set the temp environment variable to an HPFS386 drive on a remote server, be sure you have Create permission on that drive. This is not an issue if you are using a version of MS-DOS earlier than version 5.0, or if you are using a non-HPFS386 drive.
