Use the net move command to move a file over the network, to or from your workstation, or between servers. You can only move files from the MS-DOS prompt.

The net move command differs from thenet copy command in that it deletes a file at its source location when it moves the file.

To move a file

  • Type net move source [destination]

If no destination is specified, the file moves to the current directory.

For more information about moving files, see "Net Move" in Chapter 5, "Enhanced Reference."
