To connect to an uplevel AS/U printer:

On your Windows NT 4.0 or Windows 95 client, do the following tasks:

  1. Select "Start", "Setting", "Printers"

  2. In the "Printers" window, double click "Add Printer"

  3. Select "Network printer server" then "Next"

  4. Select the desired printer from browser
    or
    Type desired printer into Printer: box in the form:\\asuserver\lpdest

  5. Decide whether you want this printer to be your default printer, then Next

  6. At this point, your print driver will be downloaded, if necessary, and the selected printer will be available from your client. If the AS/U server does not have your printer driver, you will be prompted to provide it.

On your Windows NT 3.51 or Windows 3.x client:

  1. Open Printer Manager

  2. Select menu Printer, Connect to Printer...

  3. Select the desired printer from browser
    or

  4. Type desired printer into Printer: box in the form: \\asuserver\lpdest

  5. At this point, your print driver will be downloaded if necessary and the selected printer will be available from your client. If the AS/U server does not have your printer driver, you will be prompted to provide it. Windows 3.x clients will not automatically download printer drivers.
