Once you have completed your configuration changes, you must start (or restart) NetWare 9000 for the changes to take effect.

To start NetWare:

  1. Log into your system as root.

  2. Enter the commands:

    • /opt/netware4/bin/startnps

    • /opt/netware4/bin/startnw

Always start the NetWare transports (networking) (startnps) first. Then start NetWare services (startnw) as shown.

  3. Proceed to the next section, "Step 7: Install Server Into NDS Tree."

Stopping NetWare

It is important to shutdown NetWare before shutting down the HP-UX system to prevent loss of NetWare data. To do so, follow the sequence of steps below and enter

/opt/netware4/bin/stopnw

to stop the server (stopnw -g0 for no grace period) and

/opt/netware4/bin/stopnps

to stop the NetWare transport (networking).

Make sure you stop the services first (stopnw). Then stop the NetWare transports (stopnps).
