If this server is being added to an existing NDS tree or you need to add a server to a tree when selecting from multiple trees, follow the instructions in chapter 5, "Netware Directory Services."Before you install NDS, you must start the NetWare 4.1 transport (startnps) and the NetWare 4.1 server (startnw).

If the prompt "Is this the first NetWare 4 server?" appears, continue to step 3 below.

If not, follow the instructions for adding into an existing tree(s) in chapter 5.

  3. The following prompt appears if there is no previously installed NetWare server:

Is this the first NetWare 4 server?

Choose "Yes, This Is the First NetWare 4 Server" and press <Enter>.

A screen appears, ready for you to name your new Directory tree.

  4. Specify the Directory tree name and press <Enter>.

For help on rules for naming a Directory tree, press <F1>.

A screen appears with the cursor on the "Time server type" field.

  5. To enable time synchronization, you need to specify what type of time server category this server falls into.
