The following procedure is provided if you want to remove NetWare 4.1 from the system and restore a previous version. Hewlett-Packard's supported policy is to back out of 4.1 to return the system to the state it was in immediately before Path E, above in Step 3, was executed, with the system remaining on HP-UX 10.10 or 10.20.

  1. Remove NetWare 4.1 using swremove as described below.

    1. Log in as root

    2. Run the swremove program using the command:

      swremove &

This opens the SD Remove -- Software Selection window of the swremove program.

    3. Highlight the "NetWare 4.10 for the HP 9000" software.

    4. Choose Mark for Remove from the ''Actions'' menu to choose the product name(s) to be removed. The word, "Yes," will appear in the Marked? column.

    5. Choose Remove from the ''Actions'' menu. You can activate the Logfile button at any time to view progress.

    6. Activate the OK button in the Remove Analysis window when the Status field displays a Ready message.

    7. Activate the Yes button at the Confirmation window.

    8. Activate the Done button in the Remove window when the Status field displays a Completed message.

    9. Select Exit from the "File" menu.

  2. Remove the following directories: /etc/opt/netware4, /var/opt/netware, and /var/opt/netware4.

  3. To reinstall NetWare 3.12 or the SPXII/IPX Stack-only product, follow the instructions below.

    1. Log in as root

    2. Insert the software media (tape or disk) into the appropriate drive.

    3. Run the swinstall pro gram using the command:

      swinstall &

This opens the Software Selection Window and Specify Source Window of the swinstall program.

    4. Change the Source Host Name, if necessary, to the mount point of the drive in the Source Depot Path field, and activate the OK button to return to the Software Selection Window. Activate the Help button to get more information.

The Software Selection Window now contains a list of available software bundles to install.

    5. Highlight the appropriate software for your system type: NetWare v 3.12 or NetWare SPXII/IPX.

    6. Choose Mark for Install from the ''Actions'' menu to choose the product name(s) to be installed.

    7. Choose Install from the ''Actions'' menu to begin product installation and open the Install Analysis Window.

    8. Activate the OK button in the Install Analysis window when the Status field displays a Ready message.

    9. Activate the Yes button at the Confirmation window to confirm that you want to install the software, swinstall displays the Install Window.

View the Install Window to read processing data while the software is being installed. When the Status field indicates Ready and the Note window opens, swinstall loads the fileset, runs the control scripts for the fileset, and builds the kernel. Estimated time for processing: 3 to 5 minutes.

    10. Activate the OK button on the Note Window to reboot the system.

The user interface disappears and the system reboots.

    11. Check the swinstall log file in /var/adm/sw/swagent.log when the system reboots using the tail <filename> command to make sure the installation was successful.

    12. NetWare 3.12 Product Only: If you migrated from NetWare 3.11 you must use your 3.11 codeword to obtain a NetWare 3.12 codeword (Step 3, Path A, Item 3 earlier in this chapter). Refer to the NetWare v3.12 for the HP 9000 Installation and Administration Guide for details on how to obtain it.

    13. NetWare 3.12 Product Only: If you migrated from NetWare 3.12, you can activate your license with your old codeword (Step 3, Paths B and C earlier in this chapter).

    14. NetWare 3.12 Product Only: Once you have your NetWare 3.12 codeword, activate it on your system using the following command:

      /opt/netware/bin/nw_lic_install codeword

  4. Restore NetWare files specified earlier in this chapter in "Step 3, Upgrade Your System" Path E.
