Depending on your hardware, software, and connection needs, you need to decide what type of NetWare client you want to configure. This chapter provides examples for the following:

For NetWare client access:

  • If you want to use the VLM client, refer to the section describing VLM clients. The VLM client is required for use of packet burst.

  • If you have existing NVT clients and are upgrading NetWare version 3.11 to 4.1, you must update your NVT clients as described later in this chapter. If you are upgrading from 3.12 and have already upgraded to NVT2, you can skip this step.

Mac and OS2 clients are not supported.

The following Novell client software is provided on the NetWare 9000 version 4.1 server. See the README file in each directory for installation instructions.
