File Server Not Found

If you receive the message:

A file server could not be found.

This message can indicate a conflict in the frame type between the file server and the client. If you changed the frame type for the NetWare 9000 server, you must also change the client to support the same frame type. For older clients using IPX.COM, use ECONFIG to update IPX.COM as described in Chapter 8, "Managing NetWare."

Cannot Find Network Drive

If you cannot find the network drive:

  1. Check the CONFIG.SYS file for the statement LASTDRIVE= .

VLM clients require you set LASTDRIVE=Z.

  2. Reboot the PC if you change the CONFIG.SYS file and reload the NetWare client software.

Cannot See NVT Server

If a client using NVT cannot see any NVT servers; upgrade NVT.EXE on the client. Review the section on NetWare Virtual Terminal in this chapter.

If a client using NVT cannot see NVT servers runningNetWare 4.1, make sure you have upgraded NVT.EXE on the client, and have added the appropriate option for a network including NetWare 3.11and NetWare 4.1servers described earlier in this chapter.

Other Problems

If you have other problems, see Chapter 9, "Troubleshooting."
