Hybrid user functionality allows you to associate a UNIX username
with any NetWare users. If a UNIX username has been associated with
a NetWare user, all files and directories created by the NetWare
user will be owned by the associated UNIX user. Conversely, the
NetWare user will share any file or directory permissions/ownership
that it's associated UNIX user has. This combination NetWare
user/UNIX user is called a Hybrid User.
These associations are stored in a file named /etc/opt/netware4/nwusers.
Each NetWare user can have only one UNIX user associated with it,
although one UNIX user may be associated with many NetWare users.
Therefore, a NetWare user name may only appear in the list once.
The configuration user interface can be found in SAM under
NetWare Configuration in the Networking and Communications area.
Refer to the next section "Hybrid User Configuration"
for detailed configuration information.
The configuration dialog box enables you to turn the hybrid
user functionality on and off, set other options, and manage the
list of NetWare user to UNIX user associations. The SAM online help
for hybrid user configuration contains detailed information for
each field in the dialog box.

Hybrid User Configuration |
 |
When you configure a hybrid user, NetWare creates a mapping
between the user's NetWare name and HP-UX name. Files and
directories created by a hybrid user in NetWare will be granted
ownership corresponding to the user's HP-UX uid and gid,
rather than the default NetWare uid and gid.
Log into the system as root.
At the HP-UX prompt, type: sam
Double click Networking and Communications
at the SAM main window.
Double click NetWare at the
Networking and Communications window.
Double click File and Print Services
configuration at the NetWare window.
Add Hybrid User(s). Choose Configure Hybrid Users
from the "Actions" menu.
Enter the information about the new hybrid user. To do so,
press the Tab key to move through the data entry fields.
Enable/disable Hybrid User. The default is off.
Allow/disallow Default User. The default is off.
If this parameter is set to off and there is no mapping for a given
NetWare user, that NetWare user will not be permitted to log in.
Enable/disable Set User ID. The default is off.
Enter the NetWare/User. The default is none.
Enter the UNIX user. The default is none.
When you have finished configuring hybrid users,
save your changes and exit from SAM.
