Following are the limits of the current EISA 10/100Base-TX/9000:

  • The EISA 10/100Base-TX/9000 LAN software is for use with only the following protocols: TCP/IP, UDP/IP, ARPA, and NFS.

  • Only half-duplex mode is supported. Ensure that your hub or switch is set to half-duplex.

The speed of the 10/100Base-TX card must match the speed setting of the hub or switch port to which the card is connected. The card only runs at one speed at a time. The card only senses the speed the first time the system is booted up. If, for example, you remove the cable from the card's connector and then reconnect it, the card will not automatically sense the hub or switch speed. To verify the speed selection, use the LED indicators on the front of the 10/100Base-TX card as seen in the EISA 10/100Base-TX/9000 Quick Installation or run lanadmin and check the link speed and duplex mode at the LAN Interface Status Display. To change the speed after the system is running, use the reset command within the lanadmin command.

  • When using the ioscan -f command to verify installation, the last digit of the H/W Path (hardware path) will show the slot that the card is in. The other fields of the output will show the driver as btlan0, and the Hardware Type Description will be Interface EISA card INP0500.
