You need to create a separate ImageIgniter instance for each Netscape Enterprise Server that you want to use with OpenPix. (In multihoming environments, a single host might have several web servers running at the same time.)

Multiple ImageIgniter instances can share the same set of executable files, so you install the OpenPix software only once on each host. (See Chapter 2 for information about installing and initializing the software.)

To create an ImageIgniter server instance, you specify the Netscape Enterprise Server with which it will be associated. Initial configuration parameters are set to default values, which you can change later with the OSM. The name of the ImageIgniter instance is taken from the name of the web server.

To reflect the presence of the ImageIgniter server, the mime.types and obj.conf files of the NES are modified.

To add an ImageIgniter instance

  1. On the OpenPix Service Manager Login page, click the "Add a new instance" button.

The "Add a new OpenPix Server Instance" page appears.

  2. Select the NES instance that you want to use with ImageIgniter. All NES instances on this host are listed, except for those that already have an ImageIgniter instance.

  3. Click the "Create an OpenPix server Instance" button.

A confirmation page lists the name of the new ImageIgniter instance.

  4. Click Continue to return to the OpenPix Service Manager Login page.
