This section covers three basic operations that you use throughout the OSM application: navigating, saving changes, resetting pages, and getting help.

Navigating

OSM pages (aside from the login page) include a navigation bar that allows you to move from page to page. You can also use your browser's standard navigation features.

To navigate in the OSM

  • In the navigation bar of an OSM page, click the name of the page you want to view.

Saving Changes

Some pages in the OSM allow you to make configuration changes. These changes don't take effect until you save your changes.

With three exceptions, the changes you make apply only to the instance you selected when you opened the OSM. The following parameters affect all instances on this host:

To save changes

  1. In an OSM page, click the Save button after making configuration changes.

The OSM displays a page confirming your changes. If there were problems with any of the changes you specified, they are displayed on the page.

  2. Click the Continue button to return to the page where you started. If there were any problems making your changes, you can make any necessary corrections and then save the page again.

Resetting Pages

You can restore a page to its last-saved state. This feature removes changes you've made, but only before you've saved them.

To reset a page

  • After making changes to a page, but before saving those changes, click the Reset Form button at the bottom of the page.

Getting Help with the OSM

The OSM includes reference information about each of its pages. The Help file is displayed in a separate browser window that you can leave open while you use the OSM.

To get help

  • In an OSM page, click the Help link.

The OSM Help file appears, scrolled to the information about the page you were using.
