The OSM includes diagnostic pages to test the IIP and Adaptive Delivery services. You can use these pages to diagnose problems revealed by user reports.

Testing the IIP Service

The IIP Service test checks that FlashPix and JPEG images can be delivered successfully via the NSAPI process. The test page displays a table of icons that show whether the different aspects of the IIP service are working properly.

  • The NSA icon represents a test of the delivery of a static JPEG image. This verifies a basic level of functionality.

  • The ISM row represents a test of the Image Source Modules for each image type (JPEG and FlashPix).

  • The File row represents a test of actual image delivery. The icons are displayed just as images are normally displayed in OpenPix.

If any of the icons fails to display, you can double-click its empty placeholder to view diagnostic information about why that test failed. You can double-click the icon for a successful test to find out what the test covers.

You can find out more about which software components are required and their status by clicking the IIP Service Dependencies link at the bottom of the test page. See the next section, “Checking IIP Service Dependencies” for more information.

To test the IIP service

  1. Click IIP Service in the Diagnostics section of the OSM navigation bar.

The IIP Service Test page displays the results of the tests.

  2. For information about a failed test, click its empty placeholder.

  3. For information about IIP software dependencies, click the IIP Service Dependencies Status link at the bottom of the page. See the next section for details.

Checking IIP Service Dependencies

The IIP Service Dependencies page displays a table of software that is required for the IIP service. Icons in the table show the current status of each required component. Text fields explain the status in greater detail. These are the icons used in the table:

The component is functioning normally.

The component is functioning, but there is a configuration anomaly. The text explanation in the table provides details.

The component is not present or not functioning. The text explanation in the table provides details.

To check IIP service dependencies
  • In the IIP Diagnostics page, click the IIP Service Dependencies link.

Testing the Adaptive Delivery Service

The Adaptive Delivery test checks that the Adaptive Delivery component is delivering the proper HTML content for different viewing environments.

The test delivers different content depending on what browser and platform you're using. The Adaptive Delivery Test page provides background information about Adaptive Delivery, information about the browser you're using, the HTML code generated by Adaptive Delivery during the test, and a test image.

To test the Adaptive Delivery service

  • Click Adaptive Delivery in the Diagnostics section of the OSM navigation bar to display the Adaptive Delivery Test page.
