The Deployment Assistant is a tool that enables you to transfer OpenPix ImageIgniter configuration information from one platform and machine to another. For example, if you develop and test web sites on NT systems, but deploy them on HP-UX systems, you can transfer configuration information from the NT-based version of OpenPix to the HP-UX version.

There are two steps to transferring configuration information:

  1. Exporting configuration information in a text file from the original OpenPix instance and transferring it to the new host.

  2. Importing the configuration information into an ImageIgniter instance.

The export feature is found in HP OpenPix Image Igniter 3.03 and later versions of the developer's subscription and full deployment products. For detailed export information, see the documentation that accompanies those releases.

Importing Configuration Information

You import configuration information via the OSM. The ImageIgniter instance into which you want to import the information must already exist prior to importing.

The exported configuration file must be stored on the importing host computer. Because the configuration file can contain information about more than one ImageIgniter instance, you must choose the instance from which you want to import. Instances are listed by their names on the original host.

To import configuration information

  1. Open the OSM on the importing host.

  2. Select the ImageIgniter instance into which you want to import configuration information.

  3. Click Import Configuration in the OSM navigation bar.

The OpenPix Import Configuration page is displayed.

  4. Enter the file name of the exported configuration file, then click Continue.

  5. In the screen that appears, choose the OpenPix instance whose configuration file you want to import.

  6. Click the Replace Current Instance Configuration button.

  7. Click OK in the confirmation dialog box that appears.

A screen informs that the configuration file is being imported and tells you when the process is complete.

  8. Click Continue to return to the first Import Configuration screen.

Alternatively, use the navigation bar to move to one of the other OSM screens for this instance. You can view the new configuration values in the screens listed under Configuration in the navigation bar.
