Step 1: Checking IPSec/9000 Installation and Configuration Prerequisites

  1. Check that the operating system has all of the following patches:

    For HP-UX 11.0:

    • XSWGR1100, General Release Patch

    • PHNE_25423 or greater, Transport Patch

      This patch is dependent on the following patches:

      • PHKL_22840

      • PHKL_24943

      • PHNE_22566

      Depending on your OS version, you may need to install these patches before installing patch PHNE_25423 or greater. Check the patch documentation for more details.

    For HP-UX 11.i

    • PHNE_24211, Transport Patch

    For IPv6 use with IPSec/9000:

    • To use IPSec/9000 over IPv6, you must install the HP-UX 11i IPv6 ™product.

    Check the latest IPSec/9000 release note for additional patch information.

    To obtain information about the OS, execute the command:

    uname -a 

    To obtain information about a patch, execute the command:

    swlist -i
  2. Check that you have filled out the appropriate IPSec/9000 Configuration worksheets at the end of this chapter. Additional information on configuration parameters can be found in the on-line Help of the IPSec/9000 Manager GUI.

  3. You have root access and are designated the network security administrator.

  4. You have access to a graphical display, either on your system, a remote HP-UX workstation or a remote display device.

  5. If you are using RSA signature for ISAKMP authentication, ensure that you are registered and can communicate with a certificate authority.

    For a VeriSign CA, you must set up a VeriSign ON-SITE account. For information on how to do this, contact VeriSign at www.verisign.com. Also, see "Step 5B: Setting Up a VeriSign Administrator."

    For an Entrust CA, see "Step 5A: Prerequisites for Using Entrust Certificates."

NOTE: VirtualVault
If you are installing IPSec/9000 with VirtualVault (HP-UX 11.04), check that the following patches have been installed

PHNE_25416 (VVOS): ARPA Transport
PHNE_24096(VVOS): STREAMS Cumulative
PHNE_23257 (VVOS): VVOS/Net Cumulative
PHNE_21340 (VVOS): IPSec Integration Patch
