We strongly recommend that
the HP RAID 4Si controller have the latest controller firmware version
(U.01.06). If the controller does not have the latest firmware version,
we recommend you upgrade it.
The previous version of the firmware (U.01.04) is included
with the HP RAID 4Si software, and the latest version (U.01.06)
is available in a patch (see the HP RAID 4Si Release
Note for information about the patch). However, neither
version is automatically downloaded to the RAID 4Si controller when
you install the software/patch. So, if you want to use either of
these versions of the firmware, you must download it.

 | IMPORTANT: The
HP RAID 4Si controller must not be
running (that is, in use) when you download the firmware. Also,
you must reboot the HP-UX system after you have downloaded the firmware. |

To download the HP RAID 4Si controller firmware, follow these
steps:
Depending on the version
of firmware you want to use, do one of these things:
For U.01.04—On
the HP-UX system, go to the /opt/raid4si/firmware directory. This is where the firmware is stored.
For U.01.06—Follow the
normal procedure to install the appropriate patch (for either HP-UX
11.0 or 11i). This installs the firmware in the /opt/raid4si/firmware directory.
Ensure that the firmware image
(a5856a_u_01_04.img [for U.01.04] or a5856a_u_01_06.img [for U.01.06]) is in the /opt/raid4si/firmware directory.
The instructions for doing the
download are in the same directory: the file a58565a_u_01_04.txt is for U.01.04 and a58565a_u_01_06.txt is for U.01.06. You can print the file or open
it and read it online.
Download the firmware to the
controller.
