Viewing a Physical Drive's Information

This section describes the steps for viewing the following information about a physical drive:

  • Device type

  • Device capacity

  • Vendor ID

  • Product ID

  • Device revision

  • SCSI standard the device meets

  • Device errors

You can follow two different menu paths to get a physical drive's information. Note that these steps assume you have started IRM and (if applicable) selected the HP RAID 4Si controller the physical drive is connected to.

First menu path: "Management Menu" → ConfigureView/Add Configuration

The "View/Add Configuration- ARRAY SELECTION MENU" displays.

  1. Highlight the drive whose information you want to see and press F2. The "Physical Drive Information (Channel- n, Target-x)" menu displays.

  2. When you have finished viewing the information, press any key. You are placed back in the "View/Add Configuration - ARRAY SELECTION MENU."

  3. Press Esc. You are placed in the "Configure" menu.

  4. Press Esc. You are placed in the "Management Menu."

  5. Press Esc. An exit confirmation dialog box displays.

  6. Highlight YES and press Enter; IRM ends.

Second menu path: "Management Menu" → ObjectsPhysical Drive

The "Objects - PHYSICAL DRIVE SELECTION MENU" displays.

  1. Highlight the drive whose information you want to see and press F2. The "Physical Drive Information (Channel- n, Target-x)" menu displays.

  2. When you have finished viewing the information, press any key. You are placed back in the "Objects - PHYSICAL DRIVE SELECTION MENU."

  3. Press Esc. You are placed in the "Objects" menu.

  4. Press Esc. You are placed in the "Management Menu."

  5. Press Esc. An exit confirmation dialog box displays.

  6. Highlight YES and press Enter; IRM ends.
