In conjunction with HP Serviceguard Extension
for SAP (SGeSAP), WLM provides integration with the SAP applications
through the WLM SAP Toolkit (SAPTK). This toolkit is part of the
freely available WLM Toolkits, or WLMTK.
SAP has several different types of processes such as dialog
(interactive), batch, update, and spool processes. Each type of
process might have greater importance at unique times of the month.
For example, batch processes can become very important at the end
of the month when information is being compiled for end-of-month
reports. The issue with managing SAP workloads has been that the
process types cannot be determined from standard ps output, which is what WLM typically uses to place
processes in workload groups.
WLM and SAPTK now provide the solution, made possible by the
WLM process map feature introduced in WLM A.03.01. Now you can identify different
SAP processes and separate them into different workloads. The WLM
SAP Toolkit provides a process ID identifier called wlmsapmap that is designed to use process maps. The wlmsapmap tool allows you to identify and isolate entire
SAP instances—or just subsets of an instance’s
processes—as a separate workload. For example, you can
use wlmsapmap to collect batch and dialog processes and place
them in separate workload groups.

Manager User’s Guide or wlm(5).
