Installing, Configuring and Administering the Kerberos Server V 2.0 on HP-UX 11i: HP 9000 Networking > Chapter 6 AdministrationGroup Information window (Principal Information window) |
|
The Group Information window is used to view or modify the settings used by the default group for the realm. This default group is similar to a template in that it is used to control the settings for new principals added to the realm. Changing the settings for the default group does not affect the settings for existing prinicpals in the realm. The tabs and fields in this window correspond to the tabs and fields in the Principal Information window. When information is entered on the Groups Information tabs, the settings become the default for all new principals added in the realm. Settings for existing principals can be edited using the Prinicpal Information tabs. To open this window, use the Edit menu to the Principal Information window. Select Edit Default Group.
Each principal must be assigned attributes to control the usage and rights of the account. This section describes the possible attributes and the default settings. Before you begin adding principals to the database, you should review the attributes and properties assigned to the default group principal, default@REALM, and establish a set of base attributes for it. This default group principal acts as a template; all new principals inherit its attributes when they are created.
When a realm is created in the database, the default@REALM principal is automatically created. There is one default principal in each realm. This principal controls the settings for the default group. To edit the default group, use either the Administrator or the Command-Line-Administrator as discussed below:
