You can follow some basic guidelines to make your server more secure:

  • Separate servers from user machines

  • Separate your HP-UX AAA server from other servers, such as web, FTP, and mail servers

  • If possible, use a generic user to run the server, and make the configuration directory only accessible to that user.

  • Use HTTPS with the Server Manager

  • Where possible, store hashed passwords

  • Use the radiusd -c option to define the working directory of the server to a secure location to prevent public access to a core dump.
