This document is divided into the following four Parts:

  • Part I — Introduction

  • Part IV — Reference

Part I “Part — Introduction” introduces you to the HP-UX AAA Server product and the RADIUS protocol; explains the steps to migrate to the HP-UX AAA Server 6.1; and, offers information you can use to secure your HP-UX AAA Server installation.

Part II “Part — Administration” provides step-by-step procedures to follow when using Server Manager to administer your AAA environment.

Part III “Part — Managing and Authenticating Users” describes how to store user profiles in various locations and provides information on specific authentication types such as EAP, Oracle and ProLDAP.

Part IV “Part — Reference” provides reference information to supplement the task-based information in the previous Parts of the document. Use Part IV to learn more about non-task-based items such as the finite state machine, configuration files, and attribute-value pairs.

Typographical Conventions

Different types of notes appear in the text to call your attention to information of special importance. They are enclosed in ruling lines with a header that indicates the type of note and its urgency.

CAUTION: Describes an action that must be avoided or followed to prevent a loss of data.
IMPORTANT: Notes that provide information that are essential to completing a task.
NOTE: Emphasizes or supplements parts of the text. You can disregard the information in a note and still complete a task.
