Clicking the DHCP Relay Properties link takes you to the DHCP Relay Properties screen where you can modify the properties described in Table 10-1 “DHCP Relay Properties”.

NOTE: IPv6 support is not available for DHCP Relay.

Table 10-1 DHCP Relay Properties

DHCP Server Port (optional)

The UDP port to send DHCP requests to. If no value is specified, 67 is used.

DHCP Relay Port (optional)

The UDP port to receive DHCP responses on. If no value is specified, 67 is used.

Send User Class

Determines which attribute in the DHCP message will carry the IP address pool name. If set to Yes, the pool name is sent in the User-Class option. If set to No, the pool name is sent in the Vendor-Class-Identifier option.

Initial Retransmission Interval (optional)

The time in seconds before the initial retransmission of a request to the DHCP server. If no value is specified, 4 is used.

Maximum Retransmission Interval (optional)

The maximum value in seconds for the DHCP request retransmission interval. If no value is specified, 60 is used.

Client Hardware Type (optional)

This value is passed to the DHCP server. The valid values are 0 (NONE) and 1 (ETHER). If no value is specified, or any other value is entered, 1 is used.

Send Maximum DHCP Message Size

If Yes, always select the Maximum DHCP Message Length as the message size sent to the DHCP server. This is required by some DHCP servers. If No, use the minimum possible message size. The preselected value is No.

DHCP Server Name (optional)

DNS name of the DHCP server. This value is only used if the DHCP server IP address value is not specified.

DHCP Server IP Address (optional)

The IP address of the DHCP server. This parameter takes precedence over the DHCP Server Name parameter.

Maximum Discover Retransmissions (optional)

The maximum number of DHCPDISCOVER retransmissions. If unspecified, there is no limit to the number of retransmissions.

Maximum Request Retransmissions (optional)

The maximum number of DHCPREQUEST retransmissions. If unspecified, there is no limit to the number of retransmissions.

Maximum DHCP Message Length

The maximum size of the message that can be received from the DHCP.
