System Requirements

System requirements for the VM Host and virtual machines are described in the HP Integrity Virtual Machines Installation, Configuration, and Administration manual.

To use the VM Manager and all its features, install the required provider components on the VM Host and on the guests. The provider components include the VMProvider and the UtilProvider:

The VMProvider provides configuration data on the VM Host and guests. This information is delivered using WBEM. Install the VMProvider when you install or upgrade the HP Integrity Virtual Machines product. The VMProvider version must match the version of the HP Integrity Virtual Machines product. Install the VMProvider on the VM Host and on each virtual machine.
- For the VM Hosts or HP-UX guests, install the VMProvider (bundle name: VMProvider). This component is included with the Integrity VM product and with the HP-UX 11i v2 December 2005 (or later) release.
- For Windows guests, install the WMI HPVM Provider (installer: WMIHpvmProvider64.msi). This component is included with the HP Integrity Essentials Foundation Pack for Windows, containing HP Smart Setup Media Version 4.5, and with the VSE Management Software.
The utilization provider gathers utilization statistics for CPU, memory, disk, and LAN. This information is delivered WBEM, and gathers data using a daemon (/usr/sbin/utild). Install the utilitization provider on the VM Host and on each virtual machine.
- For VM Hosts or HP-UX guests, install the HP-UX Utilization Provider (bundle name: UtilProvider). This component is included with HP-UX 11i v2 December 2005 (or later), and with the VSE Management Software.
- For Windows guests, install the WMI Utilization Provider (installer: WMIUtilProvider64.msi). This component is included with the HP Integrity Essentials Foundation Pack for Windows, containing HP Smart Setup Media, version 4.5, and with the VSE Management Software.
