Specify VM Identity
Specify the virtual machine name, an optional description, and the virtual
machine hardware auto start value.
Specify VM Operating System
Specify the type of operating system to run on the virtual machine.
Specify Processor Count
Specify the number of virtual CPUs and their entitlement to physical
CPU resources. You can specify one or more virtual CPUs for each virtual machine.
Specify Processor Entitlement
The processor entitlement sets the guaranteed amount of processing power
for each virtual CPU in a virtual machine. The processor entitlement is either
the default entitlement (10%), a percentage of physical processor power, or
a fixed specific processor speed.
Specify Memory
Specify the amount of memory for the virtual machine.
Specify Network Devices
Specify virtual network adapter cards and VLANS connected to virtual
network switches, for use by the virtual machine.
Specify Storage Devices
Specify virtual SCSI adapter cards (for disk and DVD devices) or the
SCSI passthrough driver (for tapes, autochanges, and DVD writers), and associate
them to virtual storage devices backed by physical storage, for use by the
virtual machine.
Summary
Review the identity and resources specified for the new virtual machine
and preview the command that will be executed to create it. This summary step
enables you to review details before the new virtual machine is created.
At this step, you still can cancel or back up to modify previous steps
in the create virtual machine wizard. Once you click
the Finish button, the hpvmcreate command
executes and creates the new virtual machine. An optional preview mode provides
additional checks for configuration problems before creating the new virtual
machine.
If the VM Host supports VLANs, the virtual NICs specified for the virtual
machine are connected to ports on the specified vswitch, and the Modify VLANs
page is displayed, allowing you to specify the VLAN ID for each port.
Next Steps
After creating the new virtual machine, VM Manager presents you with
the next steps you can take to manage and use the new virtual machine. You
can start the virtual hardware for the virtual machine, access the console
for the virtual machine, and get information about the virtual machine.
