This chapter describes how the current version of Integrity VM has been enhanced over previous versions.

  • Guests can be configured as Serviceguard packages. A guest configured this way is called a “distributed guest.”

  • Guests can run Serviceguard, allowing applications to fail over.

  • Guests can run Microsoft® Windows Server 2003™ (with Service Pack 1).

  • Enhancements to the hpvmmigrate command include:

    • A running guest is automatically stopped before migration.

    • Distributed guests (configured as Serviceguard packages) are not disabled or deleted on the source system after a successful migration.

  • Storage enhancements include:

    • Attached I/O (tape, changer, CD/DVD burner) can be used as backing stores and can be used as backup devices (SCSI devices for HP-UX guests only).

    • Veritas Multipath (DMP) can be used on the VM Host for guest backing storage devices.

    • Guests can have up to 30 storage devices.

    • A storage device can hold up to 2 terabytes (2 TB).

  • Networking enhancements include:

    • Support for Virtual LAN (VLAN).
