Installing Integrity VM

Integrity VM includes the Foundation Operating Environment
HP-UX patches required in the VM Host
Patches required in the HP-UX Guest
Do not run applications on the VM Host system
Using VM Manager requires the latest WBEM Services on the VM Host
Virtual Machines on autoboot start when Integrity VM is installed
Installing Windows as alternate boot in a VM Host may affect guest boot devices
Do not run vPars and Integrity VM on the same VM Host system or nPAR
Configure multipath support on the VM Host, not in the guests
Using database management products on virtual machines

Do not use VM Host to create Ignite-UX golden images for guests

Modifying Guests

Integrity VM Commands

Using hpvmmodify -N -s options together causes guest to be inaccessable
The hpvmmodify command reevaluates guest configurations
The hpvmdevmgmt command truncates file sizes
Setting devices to sharable can lead to device conflicts
Errors on displaying guest or vswitch information while that information is being modified
Do not attempt to remove busy virtual devices
Missing uuid or .vmid files
Maintain minimum entitlement

VxVM DMP files not supported as backing stores
Integrity VM does not honor file permissions on backing stores
USB CD/DVD devices are not supported as attachable media and perform slowly as virtual devices
The hpvmmodify command might fail to change a DVD
Virtual FileDVD reverts to original resource statement
Using sam on guest cannot initialize disk
Extending a logical volume backing store corrupts the guest
Management limitations of virtual SCSI devices
Using the mc —b command for attached changers does not work
Attached devices not supported on Windows guests

Error Logging

For VLANs between VM Host and guests, turn off CKO

Guest memory must be a multiple of 64MB
Actual running entitlement may differ from configured entitlement
