This section lists release notes associated with the guest virtual console.
Virtual console commands |
 |
The Integrity VM virtual console is a virtualization of the HP Integrity
server hardware management console. Not all hardware control commands are
implemented. To list the supported commands, enter the HE command.
Setting the attention character |
 |
When you use the SL command, the prompt displays
the following message:
Enter menu item or [Ctrl-B] to Quit
|
This message is displayed regardless of whether the attention character
is Ctrl/B or not. This problem exists with the text, and
not with your attention character setting. You can still use the attention
character to return to the main menu.
Do not use attention characters with the hpvmconsole command |
 |
Do not use the Ctrl/J, Ctrl/M, Ctrl/\,
and Ctrl/? attention characters (or any other control characters
defined by you or your terminal emulator) with the hpvmconsole-e command.
Using these attention characters with the hpvmconsole command
can cause the virtual console to function improperly. You may not be able
to exit the virtual console process.
Protocol error |
 |
The following message can appear when you boot a guest from the virtual
console using the pc -cycle command:
# hpvmconsole: hpvm_console_ping: Protocol error |
This indicates that the guest is attempting to connect to the console
services. If the guest proceeds to boot, you can ignore this message.
Do not dynamically change virtual device types when the guest has not
booted |
 |
If the device type is changed dynamically when the guest is not booted
but the virtual machine is powered on, the EFI device driver attempts to access
physical memory that is not allocated to the guest. This operation can terminate
the guest with the following message:
Assertion failed vm_mem.c:90: >>ga.bits.offset < conf->ramSize |
The guest EFI console does not support dynamic changes of virtual device
types. Do not change a device type (for example, using the hpvmmodify command
to change a virtual disk to a virtual DVD) while the guest EFI is running
but before the guest OS has booted. Make device changes only when the guest
OS is booted, or when the virtual machine is powered off.
Error when booting guest: '\efi\hpux\hpux' not found |
 |
Under rare circumstances, a booting guest can lose its connection to
its EFI boot partition. To regain the connection, reboot the guest by entering pc
-off and then pc -on from the guest console.
Alternatively, use the EFI Shell command reset.
