The VSE Management Software products are licensed on a per-core basis on managed
systems. An initial 90-day license per product and per system is automatically
included with the software. When a new system is added
to your environment, you will have 90 days to evaluate each product on that
system.
Before the end of the 90-day trial period, you must purchase and install a
permanent License To Use (LTU) for each product that you want
to continue to use on each system. Unlicensed systems will not be accessible by
the VSE Management Software tools after the initial 90 day trial license expires.
A permanent license for Virtualization Manager is automatically included with
purchase of the LTU for Capacity Advisor or gWLM.
To purchase the appropriate LTUs contact your HP sales representative, your HP
services representative, or your authorized HP reseller. LTUs for HP-UX managed
systems are supplied as depot files and are installed using the
swinstall command.
LTUs for managed systems running Microsoft Windows or Linux are
supplied as code keys and are installed using the vselicense
command on the CMS. Instructions for using vselicense are
provided in the
vselicense(1M)
manpage.
All LTUs for HP-UX managed systems must be activated after they
are installed. Use the following procedure to activate these LTUs:
Display the VSE Management screen by choosing
Tools
VSE Management...
from the blue SIM menu bar, or by selecting the
All VSE Resources collection from the HP SIM Systems
and Events panel.
Using the gray VSE Management menu bar below the tabs, choose
Tools
VSE Management Licenses....
The results from the last license scan (if any) are displayed. Click
Scan Systems to initiate a new license scan on all
servers that you are authorized to view in the All VSE Resources collection.
Refer to the online help for a more detailed
explanation of this screen.
Click Go Back at the top of the screen to return to
the previous screen.

 | IMPORTANT:
The gWLM agent software must be running on the managed system in order for the
license scan to detect and activate the gWLM trial license. This does not apply to the
permanent license.
