This document supersedes Edition 1.0 of the HP Virtualization Manager 4.0 Getting Started Guide. This document reflects the features provided by the Virtualization Manager as part of the Virtual Server Environment version A.04.01.00 (4.1). New and changed information in this document includes the following:

  • The Visualization view now displays a greater number of compartments in a single screen. You can change the number of compartments displayed by setting defaults on the User Preferences page, or by using new expand and collapse compartment buttons from within a compartment or from the Virtualization Manager toolbar.

  • In the Workload view, a pagination link appears when a large number of nodes are present. You can change this default on the User Preferences page.

  • A new Focus icon allows you to focus in on a single compartment in the Visualization view and filter out other compartments.

  • The Onboard Administator icon allows one-click access to the Onboard Administrator for an enclosure, iLO console for server blades, and VMM console for ProLiant virtual machines.

  • You can access new tools available from the Insight Software suite:

    • The Insight Orchestration icon allows you to deploy environments via templates.

    • The Insight Recovery icon allows you to setup and administer disaster recovery sites.

  • Greater detail is provided for information callouts on managed nodes that use agentless data collection or are ProLiant virtual machines (CPU speed data).

  • x86 Linux nodes are visible in the Visualization view, from where they can be managed.

  • With HP WBEM Services kit 2.8 and the HP WBEM Provider kit version 1.7 installed on the OpenVMS managed nodes , Virtualization Manager can now collect, process, and display data from those systems.

  • New features in Logical Server Management (see “New Features in Logical Server Management”).
