The X.25/ACC software is read from the Application Software
CD-ROM mounted to a local or remote system, in superuser mode, using
the swinstall utility. The
steps are shown below. Note that this procedure also installs the
software documented in the ACC X.25 Protocol User's Guide. | | | | | WARNING! You must read the Release
Notes provided with this product before starting the
installation process.
Log in to the system as “root”. Place the media in a local or remote CD-ROM. Run swinstall,
which behaves the same in the GUI interface as for the ascii terminal
interface. If a Note message appears that reads: '"/var/spool/sw" does
not exist' (the default source), just ignore it; click
on “OK” to continue. When the “Specify Source” box opens, select “Source
Depot Type” to“Local CDROM”, or for a remote
CD-ROM driver, select for “Network Directory/CDROM” and
set “Source Host Name...”. Select “OK”. Select the ACC products and any other ACC items to be
installed from the list of software bundles; open the “Actions”menu
and select “Mark for Install”. When all items have been marked, select the “Install
(analysis)” Action; when the analysis completes, select “OK” to
proceed. When the confirmation message box appears to prompt
you to continue with the installation, select “Yes”. | | | | | CAUTION: A final Confirmation message informs you that
a new kernel will be rebuilt using the filesets installed, and the
system will reboot. When you are ready, select “Yes”.
The “Install Window” pop-up screen allows you
to track summary progress of the installation process. Use the “Logfile” feature
to display a detailed status, which is logged to /var/adm/sw/swagent.log. When the installation has concluded successfully, the
“Status:” field in the“Install Window” will
read “Ready”, while the “Percent Complete:” field
reports “100%”. If “Status:” reports any
warnings or errors, please investigate the problem by inspecting
the logfile. Select “Done” to continue. A message box informing you that the system is about
to be rebooted should appear; Click on “OK” to continue. | | | | | NOTE: If any problem is encountered during installation
that causes the process to suspend, refer to the Release Notes furnished with the
software for possible explanations and solutions. Before starting up ACC X.25 software installed on a
multiplexer interface, you MUST run ioscan -f. When you have verified that the driver nacc0, nacc1,
and/or nacc2 has claimed the
newly installed card in the desired slots, the start-up of ACC software
can proceed normally. Otherwise contact your HP Support representative.
