- Cause:
- FC Switch has been plugged in or reset button on front panel has been pressed.
- FC Switch has been in continuous operation for 497+ days and the up time counter "rolled" over.
- Action: No action required.
Event 2
- Severity: Information
- Description: The value of the SNMP MIB-2 object snmp.snmpInBadCommunityNames increased.
- Cause: FC Switch received an SNMP message with a community name that is not identical to the Switch's Community name. The SNMP message was ignored.
- Action: No action required.
Event 3
- Severity: Critical
- Description: The FC Switch has detected a fan fault.
- Cause: The FC Switch has detected a failure of one or more fans.
- Action:
- Verify that the fans are not blocked or obstructed.
- Verify that the fan module is properly seated. Re-install if necessary.
- Replace the FC Switch's fan module.
Event 4
- Severity: Critical
- Description: The FC Switch has detected a power supply fault.
- Cause: The power supply is defective.
- Action:
- Ensure that both power cords are plugged in.
- Replace the power supply.
Event 5
- Severity: Critical
- Description: The FC Switch has detected an over temperature fault.
- Cause: The FC Switch's internal temperature is too high.
- Action:
- Verify the temperature of the operating environment. Cool the environment if necessary.
- Verify that the fans are not obstructed. Also verify that the fans are not blocked by an enclosure or other device.
- Replace the FC Switch.
Event 6
- Severity: Minor Warning
- Description: The value of the SNMP MIB-2 system.sysObjectID object is incorrect.
- Cause: The value for the SNMP MIB-2 system.sysObjectID object returned by the device at this IP address is not an HP FC Switch.
- Action: Verify the IP addresses entered in the monitor configuration file.
Event 7
- Severity: Information
- Description: An attempt to read data from the FC Switch timed out.
- Cause: An attempt to read data from the FC Switch exceeded the Switch's SNMP Timeout and Retry limits.
- Action:
- Ensure that the Community name configured for the FC Switch in the dm_fc_sw monitor configuration file is identical to one of the Switch's Community names.
- If there are matching community names and this event occurs often, consider increasing the value of the SNMP Timeout and/or SNMP Retry values in the monitor configuration file for this FC Switch.
Event 8
- Severity: Critical
- Description: The SNMP device access layer reported an error.
- Cause: The SNMP device access layer reported an error other than timeout during an attempt to read data from the FC Switch.
- Action:
- Ensure that the SW_X_IP_ADDRESS for this FC Switch entered in the dm_fc_sw.cfg file is correct.
- Contact HP support.
Event 9
- Severity: Critical
- Description: The FC Switch has detected a fault on startup.
- Cause: The FC Switch has detected a fault during power on startup tests.
- Action: Replace the FC Switch.
Event 10
- Severity: Critical
- Description: The FC Switch has detected a non-specific sensor fault.
- Cause: The FC Switch has detected a non-specific sensor fault.
- Action: Replace the FC Switch.
Event 11
- Severity: Critical
- Description: The FC Switch has detected a port fault.
- Cause: The FC Switch has detected a port fault.
- Action:
- The port GBIC, port cable, port card, or switch motherboard may need to be replaced.
- The device connected to the port may be defective.
