Monitor Description
The CMC monitor will run on an IPF system. It will monitor Corrected Machine Checks (CMCs) on the system. CMCs are equivalent to LPMCs on PA-RISC systems. It also monitors the Corrected Platform Errors that occur in the multi-core processors.
The monitor also processes information about thermal conditions of the processors. When the processor temperature rises beyond a certain threshold, the firmware notifies the monitor that the processing power is throttled (to prevent further temperature rise). When the temperature is normal, the monitor is notified that the processing power is restored.
The monitor is launched automatically when the system is started.
