Overview

The IPF Offline Diagnostics and Utilities CD is a comprehensive offline diagnostic solution. The CD includes a suite of diagnostic tools belonging to the Offline Diagnostics Environment (ODE) plus a collection of other useful diagnostic utilities.

The ODE platform enables users to troubleshoot a system that is running without an operating system or cannot be tested using the online tools. The offline environment is also useful for some types of testing in which it is not desirable to have to boot the system first.

You use ODE tools on HP Integrity servers and Itanium-based workstations just as you would on the PA-RISC computers. The syntax and operation is the same; the only differences are the names of the tools and the way that ODE is launched.

The additional diagnostic utilities provided on the CD allow you to run other, non-ODE based diagnostics that are helpful in identifying problems with your server or workstation.

New Features

The following list the new features available in this release:

CIODIAG

• Prints the exact physical location (cabinet, bay, chassis, slo) of testable devices during system mapping, testing and if errors are detected. CIODIAG now requires SLMOD.EFI in order to run.

CIODIAG2

• Added MAC level loopback subtest to section 19 "Broadcom GigE LAN (COPPER)" tests
• Added PHY level loopback subtest to section 20 "Broadcom GigE LAN (FIBER)" tests
• Added External level loopback subtest to sections 19 and 20. Need external loopback hoods connected to run this test.
  To enable the test, type:
  loopback on at the CIODIAG2 prompt.
  To disable this test, type:
  loopback off at the CIODIAG2 prompt.
  If loopback on switch is passed, make sure that ALL Broadcom LAN controllers have a loopback hood connected. Otherwise, the test will fail.

CPUDIAG

• JAG78904
  Fixed issue with Section 22 (Skyline IOSAPIC Test).
• Test failed on IOSAPIC #5 and IOSAPIC #7.
• Skipped testing IOSAPIC #7 on SD16B/32B/64B, rx8640, and rx7640 systems because it can interfere with console operation.

FCFUPDATE

• The Gigabit fw and driver files for HP Gigabit Ethernet adapters should be used with FCFUPDATE.
  The intl_efi.frm wrapped firmware is only used by AB545A card.
• The ixgbe fw and driver files for HP 10 Gigabit Ethernet adapter should be used with FCFUPDATE.
• The ixgbe fw and driver files for HP 10 Gigabit Ethernet adapter should be used with FCFUPDATE.
• The HP 2 Gigabit Fibre Channel Host Bus Adapter Driver (A6795A) should be used with FCFUPDATE.

IODIAG

• Added support for AD167A and AD168A 4G FC Cards
• Added support for AB545-60001 Lan Core IO Card
• Enabled section 4 to run interactive external loopback tests. This section is non default and not included with the section all command. To run this section, the user must select section 4 through the select command.
• IODIAG only prints the status returned by the diagnostic returning from the interactive test mode and not the status of any tests that were run in it.

• Supports Emulex 4G FC controller LP1150 and LP11002
• PCI card physical location for RuSa systems functional

MEMDIAG

• Initial release. ODE-based test module that diagnose the crossbar chip. (SD16B/32B/64B, rx8640, and rx7640 systems only)

PERFVER

• Supports Emulex 4G FC controller LP1150 and LP11002.

CD_Installer

User can now choose to install to multiple HP Service Partitions.

• HP 2 Gigabit Fibre Channel Host Bus Adapter Utility(A6826A/A9782A/A9784A/AB465A/A7538A)
  
  • Replaces the previous HP 2G FC Host Bus Adapter Utility.
  • The launching of the 2Gb Fibre Channel HBA Utility from the Launch Menu is no longer available. It is replaced by the viewing the 2 Gb Fibre Channel HBA Utility run instructions.
• HP 4 Gigabit Fibre Channel Host Bus Adapter Utility (AB378A)
  
  • Initial release.
  • TThere is a "View 4 Gb Fibre Channel HBA Utility run instructions" item in the Launch Menu.

Defect Fixes

General

  Memory leak was caused by AP processor stacks not being fully freed.

CD_Installer FCFUPDATE IODIAG

• The extended ACPI path may be truncated depending on the system configuration. This is fixed.

CPUDIAG

• JAG78904

Known Problems and Workarounds

CIODIAG2

• Do not run CIODIAG2 without rebooting the machine if an ftp script has been executed. Failure to do so will cause the LAN tests to generate an MCA.

COPYUTIL

• Does not support Agilent FC cards.

DFDUTIL DFDUTILU COPYUTIL PERFVER

• Only support up to 4096 devices.

FCFUPDATE

• JAGaf80734, JAGaf80731
  On SD16B/32B/64B, rx8640, and rx7640 boxes, FCFUPDATE may display incorrect fw revisions for the 2G and 4G Fibre Channel cards (excluding the A6795A card). This is due to an issue with the card's EFI driver.

IODIAG

• Section 3 is not a default section. However, if user manually selects to run this section for the following HP card list, user needs to know the command line interface for the efidiag A9782A, A9784A, A6826A, and AB234B
• JAGaf79274
  For IODIAG a customer who uses an Intel card as a boot device with the 3.0.03 driver would lose connection to the boot server after the diagnostic runs on the card. Work around: Disabled running diagnostics on lan boot device as a workaround.

PERFVER

• Block section 2 test for zx2000.
• JAGaf67662 has not been fixed yet. On system rx7640, SCSI selftest on DVD drive TEAC DV-28E failed. The system team is in investigation on the hardware and firmware issue.

PLUTODIAG

• This version assumes that the system has PLUTO 2.0 or later version.

REODIAG

• Sections 3, 5.11 and 5.12 will not run if ftp or pxe network driver is loaded, this is by design
• To run Sections 3, 5.11 and 5.12 reboot the cell without starting the ftp or pxe network driver
• If Sections 3, 5.11 and 5.12 are run, ftp access will not work until the machine is rebooted
• Sections 3.1 and 3.3 will not run if pxe network driver is loaded, this is by design
• REODIAG checks for VenMsg (0C8AFAFB-2A49-43AA-A449-5B2FD20AE6C8) when executed from RAMDRIVE. This value must be present for REODIAG to work from RAMDRIVE.
• ACPI should be set in the default configuration before running this diagnostic i.e. fs0:>acpiconfig default The system must be reset for the change to occur
