Release notes for IPF0609
Overview
The Offline Diagnostics Environment (ODE) is a platform that enables you to
troubleshoot a system that is not booted to the operating system. You can
use ODE to troubleshoot a system on which you cannot use the Online Diagnostics
Tools. ODE is also useful for some types of testing in which it is not desirable
to have to boot to the operating system first, as is often the case in manufacturing environment.
The IPF Offline Diagnostics and Utilities CD is a comprehensive offline diagnostic solution.
The CD includes a suite of diagnostic tools belonging to the Offline Diagnostics Environment
(ODE) plus a collection of other useful diagnostic utilities.
New Features
- Modified ODE to skip files having the following EFI attributes:
- Directory
- Hidden
- System
- Reserved
FCFUPDATE IODIAG
- Added support for AD331A, AD332A, AB378B, AB379B, AD300A, AD193A,
AD194A, and 4051(32/60)B21.
The AD193A and AD194A FC chip are new.
MEMDIAG
- Improved overall performance on large configuration systems.
- Added more detailed information on error reporting.
MOABDIAG
- The MOABDIAG tool is enhanced to report unexpected errors logged in CEC.
TITANDIAG
- Added support for ETD x8 card.
Defect Fixes
CIODIAG CIODIAG2
- JAGag00268
Section 10, subtest 1 of the CIODIAG tool and section 26, subtest 1 of the CIODIAG2 tool
may fail if a LAN cable is connected to the LAN controller. This issue is now fixed.
The subsets are now skipped if the LAN cable connected.
CPUDIAG
- JAGaf99238
The CPUDIAG tool hangs on a fully configured SD16B, SD32B, and SD64B system. This issue is now fixed.
COPYUTIL DFDUTIL MAPPER
- JAGaf99241
The MAPPER tool displays the following error messages:
Error: GetEnabledProcessorsInfo() return status= 5
Looking for SCSI devices via LSI SPT device driver...
This issue is now fixed.
ESCADIAG
- JAGag11527
After running the Escadiag tool from a hard drive or from CD-ROM, other diagnostics tools
cannot be loaded into ODE. This issue is now fixed.
ESCADIAG REODIAG
- JAGag06562
The error message displayed by the ESCDIAG tool, when the I/O slots are open, is not clear.
This issue is now fixed.
IODIAG
- JAGag10945
Due to a bug in the EFI driver, running an Intel card that is a bood device disconnects the card
from the LAN server. This issue is fixed.
The IODIAG tool now skips diagnostics on the boot device.
MAPPER
- JAGag06850
The MAPPER tool displays the same description for both DVD and DVD+rw. This issue is now fixed.
REODIAG
- JAGaf93668
The rreg command results in a Machine Check Abort (MCA). This issue is now fixed.
Known Problems and Workarounds
CIODIAG2
- The CIODIAG2 tool must not be run without rebooting the machine, if an FTP
script has been executed. Else, the LAN tests will generate a MCA.
COPYUTIL
- The COPYUTIL tool does not support the Agilent FC cards.
FCFUPDATE
- The Intel EFI driver files version 3.0.13 (intl_efi_b-t.frm,
intl_efi_b-sx.frm, intl_efi.efi, and intl_efi_v.frm) for the
HP Gigabit Ethernet adapters are removed from this release
because they cannot perform a directed lanboot.
IODIAG
- To manually select and run section 3 for A9782A, A9784A, A6826A, and AB234B
cards, users must know the command line interface of the Extensible Firmware Interface (EFI) shell command, drvdiag.
- Due to an EFI driver issue on the AB287A 10GigE adapter,
section 2 of the IODIAG tool fails on the following servers:
- rx8640 server
- rx7640 server
- SD16B server
- SD32B server
- SD64B server
The AB287A 10GigE adapter is shipped with EFI driver
version 1.1.3.0. On rx8640, rx7640, SD16B, SD32B, and SD64B servers, the EFI
driver version 1.1.3.0 may cause section 2 of the IODIAG tool to fail. These
failures occur while using the IODIAG tool from the following Offline
Diagnostics CD media:
- IPF0512
- IPF0603
- IPF0606
- IPF0609
The following error message is displayed:
SECTION 002
Running Extended Vendor Provided Test
"Testing HP AB287A 10 GigE Lan Port @ Acpi(HWP0002,PNP0A03,2)/Pci(1|0).
ASIC internal loop back test Fail
Optical transponder internal loop back test Fail
This IO port failed with EFI_DEVICE_ERROR"
The error message does not indicate that the adapter is
defective. To verify that the adapter is functional,
follow the procedure described in the AB287A PCI-X 10 Gigabit Ethernet Card Installation Guide. Install the HP-UX driver. Use
the link loop or the ping command to send packets to a remote system.
Note that the failure of an IODIAG tool does not impact the
functionality of the adapter.
Update the EFI driver on the adapter.
You can download the latest EFI Driver from the following Web site:
http://www.hp.com, (Software & Driver Downloads)
The information for downloading and flashing the EFI driver on the
10GigE adapter is available at the following Web site:

PLUTODIAG
- This version assumes that the system has PLUTO 2.0 or later version.
REODIAG
- Sections 3, 5.11, and 5.12 does not run if the FTP or the PXE network driver
is loaded. This behavior is by design.
- To run Sections 3, 5.11, and 5.12, reboot the cell without starting the
FTP or PXE network driver.
- If Sections 3, 5.11 and 5.12 are run, FTP access will not work until the
machine is rebooted.
- Sections 3.1 and 3.3 will not run if PXE network driver is loaded.
This behavior is by design.
- REODIAG checks for VenMsg(0C8AFAFB-2A49-43AA-A449-5B2FD20AE6C8)
when executed from RAMDRIVE. This value must be present for REODIAG
to work from RAMDRIVE.
- ACPI must be set to the default configuration before running the
PLUTODIAG tools.
That is, fs0:>acpiconfig default
The system must be reset for the change to occur.
