Release notes for IPF0612
Overview
The Offline Diagnostics Environment (ODE) is a platform that enables you to
troubleshoot a system that is not booted to the operating system. You can
use ODE to troubleshoot a system on which you cannot use the Online Diagnostics
Tools. ODE is also useful for some types of testing in which it is not desirable
to have to boot to the operating system first, as is often the case in manufacturing environment.
The IPF Offline Diagnostics and Utilities CD is a comprehensive offline diagnostic solution.
The CD includes a suite of diagnostic tools belonging to the Offline Diagnostics Environment
(ODE) plus a collection of other useful diagnostic utilities.
New Features
CIODIAG2
- Added support for Broadcom 5704S LAN controller.
- Added support for the rx2660 system.
- Enhanced the test sections 14 and 15 to test the SP2 UPS/AUX UART.
CPUDIAG
- Enhanced processor Corrected Machine Check (CMC) reporting.
ESCADIAG
- Added support for the Symbios SCSI Ultra320 LVD HBA as targeted PCI device.
FFCFUPDATE IODIAG
- Added support for the AD351A and the AD352A adapter.
IODIAG
- Added support for rx2660 (LAN and SAS) Core IO cards.
MAPPER PERFVER
- Added support for the HP PCI-E 4G FC Adapters with Emulex LPe11002 or LPe1150 controllers.
- Added support for the HP PCI-E 4G FC Adapters with Qlogic, QLA2432, or QLA6422 controllers.
MAPPER
- The MAPPER tools is enhanced to detect and display battery module for Smart Arrays
that support ADG (Advanced Data Guarding Technology). The Smart Array Saturn is not supported.
- Added a new command called mapnew to display device hardware paths, which is compatible with the
HPUX 11.31 ioscan -N command hardware path format.
TITANDIAG
- Added support for the PCI-E card.
Defect Fixes
CIODIAG2
- Some UART registers are restored after section 7 and section 9. The
console hangs after executing either one of these test sections. This
affects only those systems on which an ECI card is installed. This
issue is now fixed.
- The BL60p systems' MP implements only one UART. If the unimplemented UARTs
are tested, then the system and MP hangs. This issue is now fixed. The
unimplemented UARTs are not tested.
CIODIAG
- The Fiber version of the Intel GigE LAN controller is incorrectly
configured if a fiber optic cable is connected to the interface. This
issue is now fixed.
CPUDIAG
- The section 019 fails occasionally and displays the following error message:
ERROR: SLAVE DID NOT RESPOND!
This issue is now fixed.
ESCADIAG
- In cellular systems with 1-port LAN 4 port u320 SCSI control card,
all ODE programs that perform a re-connect subsequent to running the
ESCADIAG tool crashes the system. This issue is now fixed.
FCFUPDATE
- The boot code of BRCM cards are not displayed by FCFUPDATE in
SX2000 server systems. This issue is now fixed.
MAPPER
- The MAPPER tool does not display port1 or port2 for FC 4G card. This
issue is now fixed.
- The MAPPER tool displays trap errors if a media with certain format
is inserted in the IDE DVD drive. This issue is now fixed.
- The mapnew command of the MAPPER tool, crashes the system if the
disk drive is not connected to the FC controllers. This issue is now fixed.
Known Problems and Workarounds
CIODIAG2
- The CIODIAG2 tool must not be run without rebooting the machine, if an FTP
script has been executed. Else, the LAN tests will generate a Machine Check
Abort (MCA).
COPYUTIL
- The COPYUTIL tool does not support the Agilent FC cards.
ESCADIAG
- The section 3 may fail in a cellular system with 16 cells and fully loaded with 16 PCI-X I/O chassis.
FCFUPDATE
- The Intel EFI driver files version 3.0.13 (intl_efi_b-t.frm,
intl_efi_b-sx.frm, intl_efi.efi, and intl_efi_v.frm) for the
HP Gigabit Ethernet adapters are removed from this release
because they cannot perform a directed lanboot.
IODIAG
- To manually select and run section 3 for A9782A, A9784A, A6826A, and AB234B
cards, users must know the command line interface of the Extensible Firmware Interface (EFI) shell command, drvdiag.
- Due to an EFI driver issue on the AB287A 10GigE adapter,
section 2 of the IODIAG tool fails on the following servers:
- rx8640 server
- rx7640 server
- SD16B server
- SD32B server
- SD64B server
The AB287A 10GigE adapter is shipped with EFI driver
version 1.1.3.0. On rx8640, rx7640, SD16B, SD32B, and SD64B servers, the EFI
driver version 1.1.3.0 may cause section 2 of the IODIAG tool to fail. These
failures occur while using the IODIAG tool from the following Offline
Diagnostics CD media:
- IPF0512
- IPF0603
- IPF0606
- IPF0609
- IPF0612
The following error message is displayed:
SECTION 002
Running Extended Vendor Provided Test
"Testing HP AB287A 10 GigE Lan Port @ Acpi(HWP0002,PNP0A03,2)/Pci(1|0).
ASIC internal loop back test Fail
Optical transponder internal loop back test Fail
This IO port failed with EFI_DEVICE_ERROR"
The error message does not indicate that the adapter is
defective. To verify that the adapter is functional,
follow the procedure described in the AB287A PCI-X 10 Gigabit Ethernet Card Installation Guide. Install the HP-UX driver. Use
the link loop or the ping command to send packets to a remote system.
Note that the failure of an IODIAG tool does not impact the
functionality of the adapter.
Update the EFI driver on the adapter.
You can download the latest EFI Driver from the following Web site:
http://www.hp.com, (Software & Driver Downloads)
The information for downloading and flashing the EFI driver on the
10GigE adapter is available at the following Web site:

PLUTODIAG
- This version assumes that the system has PLUTO 2.0 or later version.
REODIAG
- Sections 3, 5.11, and 5.12 does not run if the FTP or the PXE network driver
is loaded. This behavior is by design.
- To run Sections 3, 5.11, and 5.12, reboot the cell without starting the
FTP or PXE network driver.
- If Sections 3, 5.11 and 5.12 are run, FTP access will not work until the
machine is rebooted.
- Sections 3.1 and 3.3 will not run if PXE network driver is loaded.
This behavior is by design.
- REODIAG checks for VenMsg(0C8AFAFB-2A49-43AA-A449-5B2FD20AE6C8)
when executed from RAMDRIVE. This value must be present for REODIAG
to work from RAMDRIVE.
- ACPI must be set to the default configuration before running the
PLUTODIAG tools.
That is, fs0:>acpiconfig default
The system must be reset for the change to occur.
