Most HP-UX computer systems use the ODE offline diagnostics. This is not the case for HP-UX 11i V1.5, however.Offline diagnostics for HP Server RX4610 (4-way) and HP Server RX9610 (16-way) are both different than the ODE diagnostics provided for most other HP-UX systems.
Model RX4610 Offline Diagnostics
The offline diagnostics for RX4610 are documented in the hardware support manuals for the RX4610 in the Systems Hardware HP homesite:
http://docs.hp.com/hpux/hw/On the same web site will be found the RX4610 Utilities Guide.
The offline diagnostics for the RX4610 are run from the Extensible Firmware Interface (EFI). The EFI corresponds to the PDC/BootConsoleHandler/ISL interface on PA-RISC systems.
The offline diagnostics platform is composed of a test controller, a test package file, and one or more test modules. The test controller and test modules are implemented as separate EFI applications.
The package file is required for the operation of the diagnostics platform. This file specifies the name of each diagnostic available, the sections implemented by each diagnostic, and the parameters required for proper execution.
The RX4610 offline diagnostics have a command line interface. Commands are passed as options to the test controller, and fall into two categrories: diagnostic names and flags. Diagnostic names specify the diagnostic and sub-test to execute. Flags allow the user to redirect test output, set loop count, list all tests, specify actions on error, specify test package name, etc.
RX9610 Offline Diagnostics
The offline diagnostics for RX9610 are documented in the hardware support manuals for the RX9610 in the Systems Hardware HP homesite:
http://docs.hp.com/hpux/hw/The offline diagnostics platform for RX9610 is an EFI executable which takes control of the computer in the same way that an operating system does.
There is a graphical user interface which allows the user to set environmental vairables, log error and command information, and select functional areas to test.
Distribution of Offline Diagnostics
The offline diagnostics are distributed on CD-ROMs which are shipped with HP-UX 11i V1.5 computers. There are different CD-ROMs for the RX4610 and for the RX9610.
No offline diagnostics for HP-UX 11i V1.5 are installed in the LIF volume of the computer, as with ODE diagnostics. You can only run the 11i V1.5 offline diagnostics from the appropriate CD-ROM.
