Documented new patches for March 2000 (IPR 0003) and June 2000 (IPR 0006) diagnostics releases. These patches fix problems with LBA chip on N-Class and other systems. Another patch fixes a problem with multiple CPUs.

Added FAQ about Predictive Support to EMS FAQ page.

May 11, 2000 Updated or added many Web pages, to support the June 00 release (IPR 0006), to make minor improvements, and to fix problems:

Added June 00 versions of DIAGNOSTICS.readme, and the EMS and STM Release Notes.

Rewrote the document on the EMS incompatability problem so that it is simpler and clearer. This document is referenced in the March and June 00 DIAGNOSTICS.readme pages.

Updated the event listings for the SCSI events and for the memory monitor to reflect the new event numbers.

Mar 16, 2000 Updated or added many Web pages, to support the March 2000 release of MPE/iX 6.5 which will include a port of the Support Tools Manager (STM) to MPE/iX. Other Web pages have been added or modified to make minor improvements and to fix problems:

Added a new section "MPE/iX" under "Diagnostic" which provides documentation for the MPE/iX version of STM.

Added data sheet page for A5158A Fibre Channel Adapter Monitor that was included in the March 00 release for HP-UX.

Added a long FAQ for the EMS hardware monitors, about "restarting monitor" messages.

Added information on patch dependencies to DIAGNOSTICS.readme and "Patch Descriptions" pages. Rewrote procedure for Loading Patches to make the process clearer.

Added detailed information on patches recommended for STM to the "Patch Descriptions" page. Modified information on patches in the "Updating Support Tools" page.

Feb 9, 2000 Updated or added many Web pages, to support the March 00 release (IPR 0003), to make minor improvements, and to fix problems:

Added Mar 00 versions of DIAGNOSTICS.readme, and the EMS and STM Release Notes.

Updated the following pages for Mar 00: "Features of Releases (History)," "Patch Descriptions," and "Updating Support Tools (Releases and Patches)."

Added new information to Dec 99 and March 00 DIAGNOSTICS.readme files to document an EMS Incompatibility Problem. Created a new web document explaining this problem (referenced in the March 00 DIAGNOSTICS.readme document). Updated patch information in DIAGNOSTICS.readme for IPR 9912 and IPR 0003.

Updated the "Updating Support Tools" page to cover EMS hardware monitors as well as STM, as well as other changes. Updated the "Features of Releases (History)" and "Table of Versions" pages to include EMS hardware monitor links and information.

Changed the title of the "STM Versions and Patches" section of the home page to "Versions and Patches", and moved the section up on the page. Changed the titles of several Web pages from "STM" to "Support Tools", or just removed the name "STM" to make the pages more generic, since the pages actually apply to EMS hardware monitors and sometimes offline diagnostics as well as to STM. ALSO, added a new hyperlink on the home page that takes you directly to the Table of Versions.

Nov 23, 1999 Updated and added several Web pages to support the December 1999 release (IPR 9912), to make minor improvements, and to fix problems:

Added Dec 99 versions of DIAGNOSTICS.readme, EMS and STM Release Notes, the "Support Plus: Diagnostics User's Guide", the "EMS Hardware Monitor User's Guide."

Nov 5, 1999 Updated and added several Web pages:

Added a new quick reference documents (PS and PDF) for STM and CSTM commands.

Removed an obsolete warning paragraph from many versions of the STM Release notes which said:
"In order to continue receiving Predictive support for the HA Disk Arrays, an additional patch must be installed. The patch can be obtained from the Electronic Support Center at http://spiffy.fc.hp.com."

September 10, 1999 Updated or added many Web pages, to support the Sept 99 release (IPR 9909), to make minor improvements, and to fix problems:

Changed many pages to reflect the name change from "Diagnostic/IPR Media" to "Support Plus Media".

Added three new pages: "Support Plus Media vs Diagnostic/IPR Media", "Support Tools for HP-UX 10.01, 10.10, or 10.30", and "STM Patch Descriptions".

Added the IPR 9909 version of the manual, with the new title "Support Plus: Diagnostics User's Guide". Except for the title, this manual is very similar to the older "Diagnostic/IPR Media User's Guide."

Kept the IPR 9906 version of "Diagnostic/IPR Media User's Guide" available for HP-UX 10.01, 10.10, and 10.30 systems.

Added FAQs to the STM FAQ page.

In general, improved coverage of patch issues.

July 12, 1999 Updated or added about 30 Web pages:

Updated "Support Tools DIAGNOSTICS.readme" and "STM Release Notes" for June 1999 (9906) release to include a CAUTION not to load the OnlineDiag product from the Diagnostic/IPR CD-ROM if your system includes a V-Class computer, a DLT Tape Library or Predictive Support. Added the same info to the "STM FAQ", "Updating STM (Releases and Patches)" and "Features of STM Releases (History)" Web pages. Added a PDF document on this problem, which is accessible from these CAUTION statements.

Updated DIAGNOSTICS.readme files for the Feb, Apr, and June releases to include information on the ServiceGuard and LockManager compatibility problem with Support Tools. Added information says that not just HP-UX 10.20, but HP-UX 11.00 is affected by this problem.

Updated Offline (ODE) FAQ page to include information on a problem with offline diagnostics for the N-Class computer.

Updated Logtool Reference Document and Logtool Tutorial to include more information on the new Chassis Log commands, available in the 11.0 version to read Chassis Logs on N-Class (and later) machines.

Added a new document, a white paper on "Dynamic Processor Deallocation and Dynamic Processor Resilience."

Added some FAQs to the STM FAQ page and to the EMS HW monitors FAQ page.

Removed the entry for the "Recovery Media User's Guide for 10.20" This manual is obsolete and has been replaced by HP-UX documentation.

June 7, 1999 Updated many Web pages for IPR 9906 (June 99 release), including:

New page "Features of STM Releases (History)."

New edition of "Diagnostic/IPR User's Guide" (PDF) and "EMS Hardware Monitors User's Guide" (PDF) to reflect new monitors and some product changes. The most important product changes are as follows:

EMS HW Monitors are now automatically enabled when they are installed. (As before, the monitors are installed when the Support Tools bundle is installed.)

Messages are no longer sent by default to the system console.

Removed the HTML versions of these documents because they are obsolete (the PDF versions are still available).

Complete re-writing of the DIAGNOSTICS.readme files, the Release Notes for STM, and the Release Notes for HW Event Monitors. These documents for the Feb 99, April 99, and June 99 releases have been revised. They are now in an HTML format, so that they are easier to read. More detailed information has been added about the changes in each release, and irrelevant information has been removed. Notices about possible problems have been retroactively placed into each document (for example, if a recently discovered problem would affect the Feb 99 release, the notes for that release have been updated). Newly documented issue include:

Compatibility Problem with ServiceGuard A.10.10.

The "diaglogd exec" programs have been deleted and their functionality is now provided by the EMS Hardware Monitors.

A problem with the SCSI Multiplexer's Firmware Download Tool as supplied in the April 1999 IPR release for HP-UX 11.0.

Added data sheets and event listings for the new monitors. Modified the "Supported Products" page for new monitors.

Added new information to the FAQ pages for STM and HW Event Monitors.

Changed order of hyperlinks under each heading to a more logical order (for example, Overview and Tutorial pages now come first).

April 5, 1999 Updated many Web pages for IPR 9904 (Apr 99 release), including:

New edition of "Diagnostic/IPR User's Guide" (PDF only), giving procedure for loading individual patches with swinstall, and making other changes to the installation procedure.

Changes to DIAGNOSTICS.Readme files to recommend that people load individual patches required by STM, rather than the entire HWCR patch bundle. Clarified procedure for removing STM-related patches.

New page for STM, titled "Release Notes".

Added data sheet for new monitor (Fibre Channel Switch Monitor) to "EMS Hardware Monitor User's Guide" (PDF only). Also added a Web pages for data sheets and event messages for this monitor.

Added a new page of Release Notes (IPR 9904) for EMS Hardware Monitors.

Added a FAQ page for offline diagnostics.

Updated STM FAQ page.

March 5, 1999 Added page: "What's New". To the entry for the Recovery Media manual, added text saying "for 10.20".

March 5, 1999 Added DIAGNOSTICS.readme file. This information applies to IPR 9902. Contains information required before installing the diagnostics, including required patches.

February 8, 1999. Updated the documents to reflect IPR 9902 (Feb 99) of the Diagnostic/IPR media.

Added documents on EMS Hardware Monitors.

Added new edition of Diagnostic/IPR Media User's Guide.

Added new edition of logtool specifications.

January 4, 1999. Deleted obsolete versions of the Diagnostic/IPR/Support Media User's Manual.

December 10, 1998. Added a new question to STM Frequently Asked Questions. ("I was unable to load a recent patch; what is the problem?")

November 19, 1998. Many changes:

Created a separate section for Diagnostic documents on the Hardware & Diagnostic homepage.

Completely revised the format for online diagnostics (STM and Logtool) documents. Removed frames. Rewrote some text. Corrected errors. Produced "all-in-one" files for easier printing.

Added Logtool Quick Reference sheet (PDF).
