Better System Management
Hewlett-Packard provides you with a complete set of support tools for your HP-UX systems to assist you in verifying and trouble-shooting your PA-RISC system hardware. The HP Support Tool Manager (STM) consists of a collection of tools to help you keep your systems running at peak performance by providing you with predictive and preventative maintenance diagnostics for your hardware.
Easy to Use
STM supports users from novice to expert levels. It runs on a simple three-step paradigm (select devices/run test/examine results). To make sure you get the full benefit of all the tools, STM comes with a complete on-line help system.
The Support Tool Manager allows remote management of systems, which gives you the flexibility to run it either locally on one system or remotely on another.
In addition, STM provides three different user interfaces to successfully integrate within your system management processes:
- Graphical (xstm) for X-based terminals.
- Menu (mstm), for HP ASCII terminals.
- Command Line (cstm) for all ASCII terminals.
Full Range of Tools
The Support Tool Manager is a set of tools that provides an Automatic Configuation Mapper, Verifiers, Exercisers, Information Modules and more.
The Automatic Configuration Mapper provides a visual representation of all of the hardware devices on your system. Use this view to select devices, receive information, or execute diagnostics. The Mapper provides a view of your system to give you instant feedback on the status of each device. On xstm, the Mapper provides a color-coded graphical view. On mstm and cstm, the Mapper provides a text-based display.
Verifiers are designed to quickly determine the operability of the devices on your system. Exercisers are directed at stressing these devices in order to facilitate the reproduction of intermittent problems. These tools provide you with the ability to perform proactive maintenance and to plan your downtime to meet your schedule needs.
Information Modules provide you with important information about your system. The modules create a log of device specific information to assist you in your system inventory such as the product identifier, device description and vendor. Additionally, it provides information on the hardware path to the device, on-board log information (if applicable) and other device information to help you configure and maintain a healthy system.
The HP Support Tool Manager is a powerful toolkit at your fingertips that provides you with the ability to quickly and efficiently manage your systems. STM is bundled as part of all HP-UX systems running HP-UX version 10.10 or greater.
