This release notes discuss the HP-UX 11.11 (December 2006) release of the Support Tools Manager (STM).

Overview

The Support Tools Manager (STM) provides a set of online support tools for the HP-UX system, enabling you to verify and troubleshoot system hardware, and to examine system logs.

STM offers several tool types, including Information tools, Verifiers, Exercisers, Expert tools, Firmware Update tools, Diagnostics and Utilities.

  Starting December 2006 release, the dm_fc_scsi_mux monitor is obsolete.

  The diagmond daemon invokes many startcfg_client processes approximately 90 minutes after the OS boot-up. The startcfg_client process stops approximately 180 minutes after the OS boot-up. This behavior is visible only on Online Addition and Replacement (OLAR) capable systems. This issue is fixed.

  The Disk Information Tool is enhanced to display the settings in SMART mode.

Known Problems

Before running the STM CPU Exerciser tool on a PA 8900 machine, the value of the kernel parameter, shmmax, should be changed from the default value of 64 Mb (0X4000000) to 128 Mb (0X8000000) using System Administration Manager (SAM).

Defect Reporting

Use CHAnge Request Tracker (CHART) to report defects in STM. The project name is diag.stm.tools.hpux for individual tools, and diag.stm.ui.hpux for the user interface. If you do not have access to CHART, contact an HP representative to enter a defect for you.
