This release notes discuss the HP-UX 11i v1 (June 2007) release of the Support Tools Manager (STM).

Overview

The Support Tools Manager (STM) provides a set of online support tools for the HP-UX system, enabling you to verify and troubleshoot system hardware, and to examine system logs.

STM offers several tool types, including Information tools, Verifiers, Exercisers, Expert tools, Firmware Update tools, Diagnostics and Utilities.

Defect Fixes

The following information applies to PA-RISC-based systems:

• JAGag25433
  The system does not generate an EMS event when the ERR_DNA_SEC_HEALTH chassis code is encountered. When the 0x180087600000632c chassis code with an alert level 6 is encountered, the system generates event 1840. The severity of this event is Information.
• JAGag26878
  The dm_chassis monitor reports redundant and old information when the process table is full. This issue is now fixed.
• The disk verifier tool may hang if it encounters a bad disk while running a test. This issue is now fixed. The disk verifier tool displays the Failed status on the System Map if it encounters a bad disk.
• TThe system does not generate an error if the name of the monitor provided as an argument to the send_test_event utility is incorrect or incomplete.
  For example,
  # send_test_event raid_adapter
  instead of
  # send_test_event dm_raid_adapter
  Also, the system does not log events in the event.log file. This issue is now fixed.
  The system displays the following error message if the monitor name is incomplete:
  Finding resource name associated with monitor raid_adapter.
  ./send_test_event: Failed to find monitor name in sapcfg files.
• The timestamp field in the event details section of the event.log file displays incorrect time stamp if the data type field is equal to timestamp.This issue is now fixed.
• STM is enabled to support the following I/O cards:
  • AB314A
  • AD385A

Use CHAnge Request Tracker (CHART) to report defects in STM. The project name is diag.stm.tools.hpux for individual tools, and diag.stm.ui.hpux for the user interface. If you do not have access to CHART, contact an HP representative to enter a defect for you.
