This release notes discuss the HP-UX 11i v2 (December 2007) release of the Support Tools Manager (STM).

Overview

The Support Tools Manager (STM) provides a set of online support tools for the HP-UX system, enabling you to verify and troubleshoot system hardware, and to examine system logs.

STM offers several tool types, including Information tools, Verifiers, Exercisers, Expert tools, Firmware Update tools, Diagnostics and Utilities.

Defect Fixes

The following defects are fixed for the HP-UX 11iv2 December 2007 release:

JAGag35020
Systems with more than 64 processors display the status of the CPU exerciser tool as HUNG, before changing the status to SUCCESSFUL. This issue is now fixed.

Online Diagnostics supports the BL870c systems.

Online Diagnostics supports the following I/O cards:

- 435506-003
- AD313A
- 410533-B21

The BL860c system displays the status of the CPU exerciser tool as HUNG, when the CPU slot 0 is empty.

The psmctd process has a memory leak. As a result, the CPU usage of the system is high. This issue is now fixed.

Enhancements

Following are the enhancements for the HP-UX 11iv2 December 2007 release:

STM is enhanced to support MSA 60 storage device in ID Module. The system map displays the MSA 60 storage device under Disk Enclosure.

STM is enhanced to support MSA 70 storage device in ID Module. The system map displays the MSA 70 storage device under Disk Enclosure.

Known Problem

Following are the known problems and workaround for the HP-UX 11iv2 December 2007 release:
Known Problem
Starting with HP-UX 11i v2 May 2005 release of Online Diagnostics, the format of the contents in the System Activity Log file is enhanced. As a result, the System Activity Log file from an earlier release of Online Diagnostics may not be supported.
Workaround
Remove the unformatted System Activity Log files from the /var/stm/logs/sys/ directory. The new versions of the System Activity Log files are created dynamically during the next system activity in the updated environment.

Defect Reporting

Use CHAnge Request Tracker (CHART) to report defects in STM. The project name is diag.stm.tools.hpux for individual tools, and diag.stm.ui.hpux for the user interface. If you do not have access to CHART, contact an HP representative to enter a defect for you.
