This release notes discuss the HP-UX 11i v2 (March 2008) release of the Support Tools Manager (STM).

Overview

The Support Tools Manager (STM) provides a set of online support tools for the HP-UX system, enabling you to verify and troubleshoot system hardware, and to examine system logs.

STM offers several tool types, including Information tools, Verifiers, Exercisers, Expert tools, Firmware Update tools, Diagnostics and Utilities.

Defect Fixes

The following defects are fixed for the HP-UX 11iv2 March 2008 release:

• QXCR1000742542
  The /var/stm/data/sensor_sdr_data file has incorrect permissions. This issue is now fixed.
• QXCR1000741320
  The System Information Tool generates the following report for all fields on an rx7640, which has one cell installed:
  Hardware path: system
  Product ID : N/A
  Current Product Number : N/A
  Original Product Number : N/A
  System Firmware Revision : N/A
  BMC Revision : N/A
  System Serial Number: : N/A
  System Software ID : N/A
  ...
  This issue is now fixed. The System Information Tool now runs successfully on a single cell based rx7640 server.
• QXCR1000746823
  The product ID string of a SAS adapter is now shortened. The product ID string includes the product qualifier used for distinguishing the SAS adapter cards.

Known Problems

Following are the known problems and workaround for the HP-UX 11i v2 March 2008 release:
Known Problem
Starting with HP-UX 11i v2 May 2005 release of Online Diagnostics, the format of the contents in the System Activity Log file is enhanced. As a result, the System Activity Log file from an earlier release of Online Diagnostics may not be supported.
Workaround
Remove the unformatted System Activity Log files from the /var/stm/logs/sys/ directory. The System Activity Log files are created dynamically during the next system activity in the upgraded environment.

Defect Reporting

Use CHAnge Request Tracker (CHART) to report defects in STM. The project name is diag.stm.tools.hpux for individual tools, and diag.stm.ui.hpux for the user interface. If you do not have access to CHART, contact an HP representative to enter a defect for you.
